With Tasmania’s dairy industry in a period of major expansion, TIA is seeking a highly motivated and skilled research fellow to work within its Dairy Centre. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and undertaking research relating to dairy production systems, and will be expected to have particular expertise in one or more of the following areas: soils and plant nutrition; plant and crop agronomy; ruminant nutrition; and farm systems modelling.

The Technical Officer will provide support for Fisheries research. Diving based field activities form a large part of the role, particularly for research on abalone and rock lobster fisheries. The successful applicant will have experience in field based marine research and an understanding of scientific principles and application.

The appointee will provide high-level support to senior Finance staff and will play a key role in the University’s financial management and accounting practices and development of strategic financial policies and procedures.

The incumbent will be required to respond to telephone and written enquiries regarding operations and programs directly relating to TILT, assist with the organisation of events, schedule meetings and take meeting notes.

The Senior Instructor will assist AMC in providing training in coastal and ocean navigation; use of electronic aids to navigation including ECDIS and AIS; passage planning, bridge procedures, search and rescue operations; and high speed navigation.

The position is available on a casual basis to teach the basics of academic writing to mature age students who have had limited exposure to formal essay and report writing. This component of the course is delivered as part of the Unit BAA506 Learning Through Practice A. Teaching and learning resources will be supplied by the Unit Co-ordinator.

This incumbent will be responsible for the delivery of undergraduate units in Microbiology, including delivering lectures, practical classes, field excursions and assessment. The appointee will also contribute to the research activities of the Food Safety Centre by designing, conducting, interpreting and coordinating laboratory based microbial population studies.

The Director will lead the research activities of the Institute, will build capacity through strengthening existing groups and establishing new ones in relevant fields of medical and health research, and will foster the Institute’s reputation and standing in the context of the University, Tasmania, nationally and internationally.

The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of all animal facilities and for providing a safe, compliant working environment, training and developing staff and students in all areas of animal husbandry and performing various animal techniques.

The Technical Officer will provide high-level technical advice to the IMOS Director, and is responsible for the performance of tasks of a marine engineering and technical advice nature for the national IMOS Project.
