The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a postdoctoral Research Fellow in experimental aerodynamics, to carry out research on passive flow control of turbulent boundary layers. This is an ARC funded project to study the effect of highly ordered surface topologies on the turbulent boundary layer structure.

You may be involved in teaching in the Department in the area of biomechanics through lecturing, tutoring, marking and lab demonstration. You will also be expected to help manage the various laboratories under the supervision of the Chief Investigator and the Technical Manager of the Department.

We are looking for an experienced aquatic ecotoxicologist to work with a consortium of world-class researchers from The University of Melbourne, Melbourne Water, DPI (Vic), RMIT, and EPA (Vic) in working towards addressing the complicated issue of understanding the impact of pollution on the aquatic environment.

The successful applicant will be responsible for analysis and development of existing fMRI projects, including resting state fMRI. He/she will also lead and develop fMRI research, and will lead and write grant applications around clinical and research use of fMRI.

The appointee will incorporate new search techniques, compression and coding algorithms, and space-efficient data structures to process very large data sets. The appointee will also design and carry out experiments to test the performance and computational demands of the competing algorithms.

With Tasmania’s dairy industry in a period of major expansion, TIA is seeking a highly motivated and skilled research fellow to work within its Dairy Centre. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and undertaking research relating to dairy production systems, and will be expected to have particular expertise in one or more of the following areas: soils and plant nutrition; plant and crop agronomy; ruminant nutrition; and farm systems modelling.

We are extending our interactions to work more closely with other research units within SCU, including GeoScience and Environmental Science, which has GIS facilities. During 2012 we consolidated our bioinformatics hardware infrastructure within the new SCU Data Centre.

The position will develop the mentoring and tutoring activity within the Centre for Research in Educational Futures and Innovation (CREFI) in consultation with the Manager, Student Access and Equity, the School of Education and Access Express schools and in alignment with the conditions of the HEPPP grant.

The experienced senior research assistant or junior postdoctoral fellow will initiate and conduct research in the area of HIV and emerging viruses via Cell Biology and Imaging approaches. The appointee is expected to contribute to the research output of the School of Medicine. This is a fixed-term position funded by grants from the NHMRC and ARC.
